Living River - Transormational Healing from the Source

Sound HealingSound Healing

Sound healing is the use of therapeutic sounds, vibrations, and frequencies to generate physical health, create emotional harmony, inspire personal growth, and facilitate spiritual connection.  Sound healing can involve utilizing a variety of different approaches, including rhythm, tone, melody, harmony, interval, and frequency.

I practice a method of sound healing called Acutonics.  “Acu” refers to acupuncture and “tonic” tone. Acutonics is a non-invasive, energy-based method of sound healing that combines the wisdom of Chinese medicine with the principles of sound healing. In a treatment, precision calibrated tuning forks are listened to and then applied to specific acupuncture and acupressure points in order to access the body’s energy systems, including the meridians and chakras.  Both the sound of the tuning forks and their application on the body facilitate dynamic and profound shifts at the physical and subtle levels of being.

Unlike many other tuning fork systems, the Acutonics tuning forks are not based on the chromatic, Western scale.  Acutonics tuning forks are instead attuned to the orbital frequencies of the celestial bodies in our solar system, including the sun, moon, and planets.  This attunement allows for the therapeutic qualities of sound to activate even deeper levels of healing, bringing spirit and matter into a state of fluid connection.  From this unified state, profound healing can occur.

I discovered Acutonics while I was attending a year-long Sound Healing certification program at the California Institute of Integral Studies is San Francisco, CA in 2005. Since then I have completed hundreds of hours of training with West Coast Acutonics and it’s parent organization, the Kairos Institute of Sound Healing.  My training included individual mentorship, clinical observation, and assistant teaching. Along with tuning forks, I also utilize a large planetary gong and Tibetan singing bowls. The gong and the singing bowls are used specifically to entrain brainwave rhythms and work with the subtle body to support deep relaxation and facilitate an optimal healing state at the beginning or end of a session.

In addition to treating individuals in my Living River practice, I previously volunteered my time with Sutter Hospital’s Integrative Health and Healing Services program in Santa Rosa, California, for women with cancer. I offered Acutonics sound healing to women at every stage of their healing journey.
